It so happened that I am the wife of a structural engineer and the daughter-in-law of a hydraulic engineer. And not a simple hydraulic engineer, but one who was one of those who designed the Krasnodar reservoir. So the information, so to speak, is first-hand and confirmed by experts. But I, as an absolute humanist, while writing an article, can make linguistic mistakes and use incorrect word combinations when describing technical details. I ask you to take this into account when reading it, and if anything, it’s my fault that I misinterpreted smart people .
And now on the topic. Once my husband received an assignment at work at a design institute: it is necessary to draw a map of flooding in the event of a theoretical breakthrough of the dam of the Krasnodar reservoir. Then the Ministry of Emergency Situations was gaining momentum with the creation of a theoretical (and practical) basis for the protection of the population, and it is logical that they needed such information. These cards are secret and cannot be shown, unfortunately.
In order to break through the dam of the Krasnodar reservoir, you need to drop two nuclear bombs on it. And if you drop them, then believe you, it will not matter whether the reservoir has burst or not …
So the chief engineer of the design institute laughed.
There was a moment when some friends called us and seriously asked if we had bought a boat. At that moment, my husband Misha drew this map and talked a lot with the management of the Krasnodar reservoir. Yes, it was at a time when there was a lot of water in the reservoir, but it was the upper mark of the NORM. The indicators did not go off scale and did not go into critical marks. But for some reason, many believe that when there is a lot of water in the reservoir, the dam can crack (burst, collapse, blur, and so on). And by the way, then people really bought up a lot of inflatable boats in the city .
And now I’m telling you what will happen if you sit in a boat and wait for the water to come from the “burst” dam of the Kuban reservoir: this will not save you, in any way …
Shipping lock of the Krasnodar reservoir. Shipping lock of the Krasnodar reservoir.
Firstly, absolutely nothing threatens the dam, especially from its own water. The security there is such that just at the entrance to it from the air (from the bushes, from the surrounding space), heavily armed guards materialize.
Secondly, if all the same, for example, aliens arrive and burn the dam with a laser, then the wave will be as high as a nine-story building. And it is clear that no boat will help here. The wave will move for a day to the Sea of Azov and a third of the region will be flooded, theoretically.
The dam is very strong and all the above mentioned scenarios are absolutely impossible. Crazy state-of-the-art real-time monitoring system for every meter of the dam, a whole bunch of sensors + constant monitoring by hydraulic engineers. Even when these same specialists come to check their hydraulic structures with all the documents at a pre-agreed time at a certain agreed place, and even in this case, there is always a total check of the visitor.
So we sleep peacefully and do not expect a threat from this direction.
